ART + TECHNOLOGY = INNOVATION

By: Dr. Richa Srivastava | 03/11/2024

The amalgamation of creative processes and the tangible intelligence tools is what a perfect solution to a problem looks like .A creative approach towards a problem proposes to see things in a completely different light. And that is when design education enters which is a combination of both ideas and logical thinking .

Right from the Da Vinci days Art has married Technology to produce Innovation . No matter how creative our mind is , the actual solution has to be supported by tangible tools driven and developed by technology. Analogously any technology cannot be launched without instilling a touch of human value systems including the socio- political views and a creative user friendly interface.

Since the past decade Design Education has evolved itself to a more compatible and coherent methodology , thereby promoting individual ideas and innovations .

Today, there is a combination of arts, expressions and innovativeness with advanced and virtual technology making a totally new viewpoint. Development and ideation are presently seen as composite pieces of businesses whether it is connected with banking, travel, or weather reporting. The number of creative occupations in non-creative organizations is likely to be more than the defined creative businesses and accordingly it is difficult to really gauge their effect on the economy but that doesn’t negate the upcoming importance of such jobs and courses.

It is very necessary to know that a good design is much more than making a good looking product. It is about creating a beautiful experience for the user. For example a simple pen you have can write what's there in your head . Then why do we choose out of hundreds of companies that makes colours, textures, sizes ,designs and elements. It is because each pen has a specific design which gives a positive seamless and enjoyable experience to the user. Here I would like to add that design can be purely an object of art too . So a design is a proportionate balanced harmonious and rhythmic arrangement of the elements like line shape colour texture form and space a good design can be purely aesthetic or purely functional or a mix of both and doesn't happen by accident .It has to be developed through research analysis innovative ideas and deep understanding of the purpose of the design with the knoeledge of the right kind of technology not only for manufacturing but also for sales and promotion.

The only reason that there is an increase in demand of creative job roles in the non creative industries too is that creative education largely encompasses students utilizing their creativity and logical thinking to bring out fresh thoughts which have a meaning and relevance. It requires them to be able to face challenges, think independently and be adaptable rather than being instructed to simply learn whatever was taught. Students this way get to figure out how to develop their capacity to track down different answers for an issue like a divergent thinker. Divergent thinking refers to concocting different unique ideas, but there is no method of developing this expertise mainly because of the originality of the idea and the restricted scientific knowledge on creativity.

The great scientists were artists too . Thus , a rational fusion of Art , Science and Technology is a perfect statement of intelligent settlements and products we build for ourselves .
